This is the omnibus version of the story I told in the Story Slam MN 2012 finals. The theme was “Road Warrior: Adventure Stories” and I shared one of the seminal events of my existence. It involves the traumatizing transition into middle school, Pee Wee Herman, an asylum, and my mother going above and beyond the call of parental responsibilities.
